Welcome fantastic readers. Thanks for being here.
Paladin Thain was and still is a hero to many Harappans. He was the last leader of the White Mountain Clan. He was big, strong, handsome, smart, compassionate, everything you’d want in a leader. People wanted to follow him, love him or be his best friend.
His son, Paladin Jr., not so much. Young Paladin was not his father. Not in any measurable way. I knew the lad. Not well but he and Lanice were at many family events over the years that I was invited to. My friendship with Dorian gave me entry to most Thain events.
Lanice never gave me the time of day. I can’t recall her ever speaking directly to me . . . ever. I guess that turned out to be a good thing as far as the history of Kusha is concerned. Had she come to know me and my friendship with Dorian things might have been different.
I rarely spoke with the boy. He and Dallas sometimes hung out together and occasionally I’d speak with the two of them. I always had a good relationship with Dallas. But again, I don’t recall any one-on-one conversations with Paladin.
He was a quiet kid, very shy, as I remember him. He was chubby, soft and slow. Dallas used to take him hunting but says it was always a struggle.
Paladin senior was the strongest hunter in the Clan. One has to wonder how Paladin the Younger would have fared had he been raised by his dad. I knew Paladin Senior. He was a fair man but I have my doubts that he would have allowed his son to become as weak and soft has he wound up being.
