Greetings fantastic readers thanks for being here (especially on a saturday).
Now that I have the net at home I’ve expanded my blog posts. Saturday will now be my regular science post and Philip the Bard will continue tales from Planet Harappa on weekdays.
Today I’m going to explain my solution to the energy crisis. Yesterday a friend asked me what I thought of electric cars. Hmmm. Sure, it sounds good. Electricity is clean energy isn’t it? Not always. The electricity has to come from somewhere. Today it comes from atomics, burning fossil fuels and some from renewable sources like hydro, solar, wind, etc. Then there is the issue of the batteries. Batteries often contain some nasty, toxic things and they require specialized disposal. So, I don’t see electricity as the final solution until we can develop cleaner energy sources.
So what is the answer? My belief is that we need to develop a variety of sources. Solar, hydro, wind are all a good start but what I believe will be the primary power source for the future is the hydrogen cycle.
I use my sci fi series of books to propose a number of theories of mine. In this series humanity has discovered the hydro-cyclon motor. This device separates the hydrogen and oxygen in water to burn them and in the process of burning them turns them back into water vapor and reclaimed. We don’t have this technology yet but I see it coming. Hydrogen is one of the most abundant elements in the galaxy and our solar system. It burns clean and is renewable. There are safety issues to work out and the technology is still a ways off but I see it’s development as one of the most important discoveries to come.
Having a clean power source will be huge for futur generations. Solving the energy crisis will leave humanity with one less issue to worry about. With a sustainable environment we can focus on limiting population growth.
