Welcome dear readers. Thanks for being here.
I hope you had a fine weekend. I had an enjoyable night at the Bird in Hand pub in Harappa City with some of my band mates. We played the typical set of Stones, Zep and Toxik Idols. Plenty of beer and wine and the drummer had some Oodo. Drummers . . . go figure.
Over the months I’ve been producing this blog I’ve told tales on a few of our historical friends here on Kusha. Of course we’ve talked about The Mother and some of her friends. My friend Dorian and other friends as well.
What we haven’t discussed are some of the villains and people who were less than helpful in Max’s quest for knowledge and galactic peace.
Lanice Thain and her son Paladin Jr. have to be one of the most tragic stories in Harappan history.
Lanice was considered by many in the White Mountain Clan to be the most beautiful person of her generation. I knew her some when we were growing up. She was indeed, a beauty. High cheek bones, strong jaw softened just so and packaged in smooth porcelain white skin.
She grew up believing her birthright was to marry Paladain son of Adrian and become the first lady of our Clan. When we were kids I know she played my friend Dorian against his older brother Paladin. I guess that was her way of keeping Paladin on his toes. I don’t know if Dorian ever felt he had a legitimate chance with her or if he knew that he was just a tool of her ascension. My guess is that Dorian always knew Lanice would end up with his brother. She never came between the Thain boys. I suppose of either brother felt the other was a real threat in this matter they might have fought about it, as brothers will do.
When Paladin was killed on Harvest Day her plans came crashing down. That installed in her a bitterness that came to mar her beauty. It also set her on the path that led to the tragedy that was the final years of her’s and Paladin Jr’s lives.
Never mix red wine and Oodo.
