Philip the Bard's Harappan Blog: Max's First Date

Max's First Date

When Max turned sixteen her mother thought that was time enough and her little girl needed to get out. Mom took Max shopping and found a lovely white skirt with a a floral embrodiery pattern at the hem. To go with the new skirt Max got a new pesant top, white, light and organic cotton.

The date was arranged between parents. This was a custom in some parts of Harappa. My wife Ina says the Mandan people did it. My people the White Mountain Clan did not.

Lots of people know the name Kenny Boyer. There have been several versions of this date written over the years. I got this information directly from Max’s mother.

Kenny was not a bad boy, he just didn’t have the sense some sixteen year olds have. He lives on Kusha in the Falorn District. He’s is retired now but was well respected at his work. I say this because he has been demonized in some of the accounts of this date.

Things started out well Kenny was right on time. The kids were going to a birthday party for one of Max’s classmates. This classmate was the daughtor of a professor that Max’s mother knew well. There was an MJ playing music and the kids were dancing around the family pool.

Some historians have said Kenny’s next action was totally unexpected and not inspired by anything other than malace. I heard, however, that things started when some of the kids put on swim trunks and jumped into the pool. Kenny tried to talk Max into a swim but she declined. She didn’t have a swim suit.

That is when Kenny pushed Max in the water.  Max came out of the water mad as a stepped on Gorgito. The water made her thin cotton clothes stick to her skin and the material became semi transparent. Max was a shy child and there she was exposed to the world. I wasn’t there but her mom said you could see everything and I mean EVERYTHING.

Some of the kids pointed and started laughing and Max ran into the house. The Chaperone got Max a towel to cover herself with and made her some tea.

Not all historians mention this but Kenny did come to apologize at that point. Max then asked him to take her home.

Kenny agreed but took a side trip to the Rodin Falls overlook, a spot where kids went to make out. Kenny made a pass and he grabbed Max. She smacked him in the face and got out of the watercar. She refused to get back in the watercar and walked home.

One more thing that most historians fail to mention is that the following day Kenny went to the Gavaskar home and formally apologized to Max.

It was a devestating experience for young Max Gavaskar but she did get over it and started dating again a couple of months later.
