Notes from the Author:
Thank you for coming to my blog. I hope you are enjoying “Philip the Bard’s Harappan Blog”. Philip is a character from my book “The Gavaskar Field” which is for sale on Amazon now and will be on ibook and most other sites that sell ebooks in the coming weeks. I hope to have it available in print soon.
I have been living with Philip and his companions on planets Harappa, Lava, Kusha and Earth for forty years. The germ of an idea for this saga came to me while I was in the U.S.A.F. in Torrejon Spain. I wrote a short story that was long on setting and mood and short on writing craft. I always thought I could do better by this story and I have often revisited Harappa in my daydreams.
A few years ago my beautiful wife and muse convinced me that I could actually write this if I set down to do it. Here I am working on book five of six.
Because I’ve spent so much time in this world set four hundred years in the future there is a massive amount of material that no editor will ever allow into one of the novels. I am giving that material to Philip the Bard.
Philip Normer was Dorian Thain’s best friend growing up and became the sidekick for the hero of the first three books. He also met and spent time with Max Gavaskar the heroin of the final three books. It was not his inclination but more his location that made Philip the historian for his age. He is trustworthy, honest and he has a strong sense of humor. He is not only interested in big history but will also make observations about daily life on his home of Kusha and his childhood home on Harappa. I hope you enjoy his musings.
Philip will continue his blog and occasionally I will contribute my “Notes from the Author” wherein I will discuss my writing craft, offer additional insights into this story and some of its characters and present my own musings on society and life.
A note on the publication of Volume Four
The Gavaskar Field is book four of the series, yet it is the first to see publication. Of the first four books it has the most humor and I think it is a good place to jump into the saga. It is also a platform for me to present my thesis on the nature of the universe, Gavaskar Field Theory (more on this later).
Thank you for coming, come back again.
