Philip the Bard's Harappan Blog: The Tarsan Movement

Welcome festive readers. Thanks for being here.

The past couple of weeks we’ve been discussing several of the historical political groups involved in the Galactic War. One group we have not yet mentioned is the Tarsans and their missionaries.

They claimed their authority came from an ancient Earth religion, but modern scholars find nothing in the Tarsan movement that relates to the teachings of the spiritual leader they claimed to follow.

A denunciation of the Tarsans, therefore, is not seen as any criticism of the foundation they claimed as theirs. There are still some people who follow the ancient Earth religions but after the Galactic War and what Max Gavaskar did to open the Milky Way, they changed some of their beliefs to fit with the new realities of our galaxy. In doing so they changed the spiritual path of planet Earth so that it has now become the “Soul of the Galaxy”.

Many galactic historians see the redemption and salvation of Earth’s religions as one of the most positive and significant social movements in galactic history. Hooray for humans! (for once anyway)

The Tarsans didn’t start out as a positive force for social change. For quite some time they were a force driving revolution and war on Earth, and they were actively trying to spread to all the human worlds.

My view of the early history of the Tarsans tell me that it seems pretty obvious that their acceptance of Mary Carmini led completely to their evil acts. Without her involvement, my guess is that they would have stayed a small, relatively non-influential group. However, I would have to wonder if Earth would have experienced its spiritual rebirth without their influence.

Tomorrow: Their early history.
